Ricky was one of my oldest and best friends, growing up together on the Stanford Campus. We had so many common interests. We cut bamboo poles from a neighbor's house and learned to pole vault together.  We were both musicians and performed together in the Terman talent show in 7th grade.  We both loved to draw.  We roamed the foothills together catching alligator lizards and snakes.  We rode our bicycles over big mounds of dirt in construction areas. I remember when we were doing a show together at Gunn High School, to a packed house in the big auditorium, I asked him, "Don't you get nervous before one of these shows?"  Without hesitation he said, "Nah, these people don't have any idea what I'm doing."  When I moved to Fairbanks to go to graduate school I lost track of almost everyone from high school.  Ricky was one of many friends I never saw again.  That's really sad.  He was a wonderful friend and a wonderful person with an amazingly creative and innovative mind.

As Brian Jones said, Rick was always a good friend as we grew up together since elementary school. I was also one who learned to pole vault together with Brian in his side yard. Rick and I would get up early and ride our bikes to Felt Lake to fish. Over the years, he developed into a singer/musician and I saw him perform from time to time. A good guy who was creative and had confidence in himself.
