An inspirational athlete and and good friend on the track team.  I loved the way he carved his way through his opponents in the last 220.

I have so many great memories of time spent with Bill over the formative years and after we graduated. He was a loyal friend, good person, great athlete and hard worker with a great family. Even today, I think about him and feel sad that his life was cut so short and what life would be like with him in it today.

Bill was one of the most talented natural athletes (excelled in 4 sports) I have ever had the pleasure to compete with, very hard working, driven, laser focused and always ready to step up to to a challenge.  A victim of several concussions while playing for Nebraska, I always wondered what his path would have been if he agreed to play deep back at Stanford instead of wanting to be a running back.  He knew the sports he played from all angles and would have been an excellent coach. RIP.

Bill was the BEST football player I've ever played with!  I loved being on the field with him.

I was only a starter on special-teams my senior year but I remember being put in when we're way ahead in a game (Carlmont or Woodside)where Bill had already scored four touchdowns. I was playing split end which is what is now called split end. Bill had broken through into the backfield on a run and had only one defender between him and the goal. I threw the block that cleared the way and I remember coaches saying good thing you didn't clip that safety. They been pretty worried that I would throw an illegal block and that record setting 5th touchdown would have been called back.  50 years ago and the memory stays with me. Bill was the gold standard for athletes that year. Everybody looked up to him.

Early memory:  Bill Norberg and Mike Stark in  backfield of (Barron Park elementary school?) playing flag football against us (Mayfield) in some kine after school rec program. They were organized n actually running plays! Bill was running fast cutting spinning n already a standout. Later at Terman n Gunn I pretended to hate but always loved his goofy humor n endless teasing. Appreciated his humor n friendship. I was sad to learn of Bill's early passing n largely unrealized athletic potential- but lots good memories of him.

There's a photo in the 1969 (I think) Gunn yearbook of Bill in the Quad at lunch, pausing to talk with me n Bob Luckey on some aspect of existential philosophy or fashion trends or surfers as athletes. In any case Bill always seemed to incite engagement. What a guy!
